Purple Haze Over Cleveland

What wonderful colors in this treasury! Susan from photohale has included my Fancy Purple Fish ACEO in her Purple Haze treasury. Susan is a local Clevelander, and all the items she has selected are from Cleveland artists.

I love this little fish and I'm delighted that she included it in her treasury.

Hurry up and take a look at the treasury; it expires Tuesday afternoon.

And be sure to stop by Susan's Etsy shop, http://photohale.etsy.com , to see her collection of photos. Some are taken locally, but others from around the globe (France, Czech Republic). She has a wonderful eye for seeing abstract shapes in everyday objects.

ACEO-X Swap

It's been a busy month! Not only am I working on my Artomat order, but I've joined an ACEO swap, called ACEO-X (ACEO exchange, get it?).

Amanda from Ulixis Crafts is hosting the swap. We each make an ACEO and send it off to a partner that she has assigned to us. We know who we're making an ACEO for, but not who is sending one to us. Very cool!

Here are the details on her blog:
http://ulixis.blogspot.com/2009/07/aceo-swap.html

My entry, since I'm in an Artomat frame of mind, is an ACEO that I've made in the style of my Artomat paintings. It's made with acrylic paints on paper; the fishes are cut out of my favorite Miyabi Chiyogami origami paper.

I call it "Fishy Friends". What do you think?.

H20's Ongoing BNR Treasury

Well, she's done it again! Kat from H20Works has included my Blue Tapestry ACEO in her treasury on Etsy.

http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=72099

This treasury is a "BNR": Buy 'n Replace. Buy something from an Etsy shop listed in this treasury and she will replace it with an item from your Etsy shop. If you don't have an Etsy shop, that's ok. You can still buy an item anyway.

The rules are in the first comment under the pictures.

Kat has a wonderful Etsy shop full of fine art prints, ACEOs, greeting cards, graphic design services, and some knit and crocheted pieces. Take a minute and shop by her shop: http://H20Works.etsy.com/ .

Whatever you do, catch the treasury quickly. It expires on Friday, July 24.

Where are all the ACEOs?

Sorry, folks, been a little slow on the ACEO front lately!

I've been busy - distracted even - working some other projects. I've recently been accepted to Artomat, and am working diligently on 50 little paintings to send them.

I matted up a bunch of ACEOs for the local Clothesline show. It's always nice to put them in mats and wrap them in shiny cellophane. They look so...finished...professional...or something. I guess an artwork always looks more finished when it's matted and framed.

I've also matted up another bunch of ACEOs for Artefino Gallery. They've been kind enough to stock my ACEOs.

I'm planning to spend a large portion of the holiday weekend painting, so stay tuned. In the meantime, what have you been working on?

Hearts and Stars ACEO

This ACEO is built with layers on top of layers on top of layers. From the back:

The background is made of strips of handmade paper that have been laid side-by-side and glued in place like planks on a nice sturdy piece of mat board.

The strips have been toned with several layers of paint in varying degrees of transparency to give it an earthy organic feel.

The pink heart design is painted with acrylic paints.

The star flower and the little star in the upper left are cut from my favorite origami paper.

Spiral Mediation ACEO

Finally! Something that's not a fish!

Don't get me wrong, I love my fish. Love my fish! And now I'm glad to have something else to show, too.

I also love spirals. Here's one done in gold metallic paint on a green and red background. A really intricate, brushy, colorful background.

The whole painting is on a nice piece of mat board which gives it a very substantial feel. I'm very happy with it.

Enjoy.

Purple Squiggly Fish ACEO

This is the last fishy for now. No more in this series for a while.

This fish is cut from my favorite origami paper, as is the spiral. The background is painted with watercolors in a squiggly design.

I have a few other things to post in the coming days, so stay tuned.
