Surf

I'm having fun with collage these days. This is a collection of torn papers glued on a piece of watercolor paper that I'd painted with acrylics. That's a bit of stitching along the bottom.

Moon Rise

A collage made mostly from photos cut from magazines. The bit of green along the bottom edge is an image transfer made by coating a magazine photo with several layers of matte medium. When it was dry, I soaked it in water for a few minutes to soften the paper, then rubbed it off. All that was left was the colored ink embedded in the medium, for a transparent image. Nice.

Snowflake With Thread 1

I've been experimenting lately with adding machine stitching to artwork. This has a painted background topped with a snowflake cut from plain white paper. I ran a few lines of stitching along the top.

Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy

Here are 3 little fish ACEOs for you today:

Red Coral Zig Zag Fish ACEO (SOLD)

Purple Tropical Fish ACEO

Blue Fish ACEO

They are all collages. The fish were made by painting and drawing on a variety of paper. I then cut out the fish shapes and glued them on ACEO-sized cards.

The top one (the red fish with the zig zag design) was made by gluing together strips of paper and then painting over them. I made the backing card by weaving together strips of specialty papers that have wonderful bits of fiber and plant material embedded in them.

The purple fish in the middle has these great gold stripes that give it an exotic feel.

The blue fishy has wonderful watery washes of acrylic over printed scrapbooking paper. I drew the fun branch and box design with sepia ink. The left edge of the card has a ragged deckle edge that adds to the fluttery feel of his tail.

All are for sale in my Etsy shop:

Stripes? Help, I need a title

OK, I had a blast making this card today! The photo doesn't show it well, but the background is made up of vertical strips of rice paper. The colors are acrylic. I really like the balance of the vertical papers and the horizontal stripes and the diagonal colors. Despite that, I'm stumped for a title. Any suggestions?

The yellows and greens and lavenders mean that it's starting to become Spring around here...

Blue Snowflake

Ah, a beautiful snowflake! It is cut out of paper, just like we used to do when we were kids. The background is a collage of handmade paper mounted on cardstock, painted with acrylics.

Why snowflakes? The weather wasn't cooperating at Christmas -- it was warm and dry -- so I cut snowflakes out of paper and hung them around the house to give us a White Christmas anyway. Afterwards, the snowflakes were just the right size to make into ACEOs.

I've posted other snowflakes here and on my web site at http://www.lifeneedsart.com/ATCpics.html .

Interested? Buy it here.
